I DID IT! I have been challenged last month to write 31 articles in 31 days, which means one article per day. When I accepted this challenge, even before starting it, I truly believed I would not be able to do it and to write that many articles in such a small time. Even though I was very motivated, I just assumed I would not have time : young kids, a full-time job and the regular daily life going on, without extending time! But you know what, I managed to do it!
If I did it, you can also do it!
I mean not writing articles (except if you want to), but giving yourself a challenge that might seem impossible to achieve at first, but that you actually are able to accomplish! It can be anything : intermittent fasting for a month if you want to challenge your body and feel healthier, taking one cold shower per day for 30 days, following the Wim Hof method, avoiding all kinds of media (except my blog 🙂 ) for 45 days, practicing yoga 30 min/day during a whole month, reading one book per week during 6 weeks,…
First of all, if you want to start from the right foot, intiate a challenge that is doable and that does not last to long, like the ones I stated above for instance. Secondly, if you feel like it and if you want take it to the next level, you can either extend your first challenge (instead of 30 days, you do it for 3 months) or you can choose a different challenge. For example, you decide that in a year from now, you will be able to speak French, or that in 6 months, you will do a lateral split. You can also take the decision not to buy any new clothes for a whole year. Choose a challenge that will be beneficial for you. Everything is possible, everything is in your hands. YOU are the one deciding for yourself.
What did I learn from this challenge?
First of all, I am proud of myself. It might seem ridiculous, but despite my busy life, I proved myself that I could do it. And I must say that feeling proud of oneself is a sensation that I wish for all of you. This challenge also taught me great rigor and high efficiency. Of course, some days were much harder than others, some days I wanted to give up because I was tired or because I was just not motivated anymore. But each time, I kept telling myself :
“Open your computer and just get started. You will see where it leads you. But don’t give up without even trying!”
And as soon as I started, it was just all fine.
Let me give you a piece of advice : when you are feeling down in your challenge (believe me it will happen eventually), just start. Don’t put pressure on you but just get started, and you will see that it actually is the hardest part. If your challenge is to go running every single morning for a month for example, just put your sweatpants and your running shoes on, go out of your house and start running. You will see that once you start, you don’t want to stop anymore.
Believe in yourself
The most important in achieving a challenge is to realize that you are the one determining whether you can do it or you can’t do it. It is all in our heads and in our will. Keep believing that you can do it and you will do it, that is the unbelievable power of mind.
